I fell in love with Kiefer before I knew he was deaf. After I found out a lot of people figured I wouldn't adopt him. I didn't care that he was a deaf, there was just something about him. Kiefer is 15months old now. He is number 6 in my family of dogs but my first deaf dog. When Kiefer was in puppy class some of the other owners treated him like he had some sort of disease. It was really sad. When out 8 weeks were over people were amazed at how smart he was and that he learned every trick that the class had. Kiefer is taking his second Rally class. He is so much fun to work with, I just need to keep up with him. Kiefer is now the star of a children's book. I wanted people to know that Kiefer can do anything that hearing dogs can do. I think it is important that children learn this lesson so they can grow up to be more understanding of people and animals who are different.  ῀Trisha Malfitano
